Everything you need to know about VDS products, platform, pricing, deployment, and compliance — in one place.

GENERAL

VDS designs, manufactures, and monitors AI-powered deployable surveillance systems. We build the hardware, develop the AI analytics platform (AI VisionStream), and operate a 24/7 Security Operations Center — all under a single contract.

Our headquarters, manufacturing facility, and Security Operations Center are all located in Maryland.

VDS is privately held and founder-operated, led by Joe Kruk (Founder & CTO) and David Weingot (Co-Founder & CEO).

Both — and that's intentional. We manufacture our mobile units, develop the cloud VMS that runs on them, and staff the SOC that monitors them. A single customer contract covers all three.

VDS is a founder-operated company that has been building and deploying mobile surveillance solutions across construction, utility, retail, and government sectors for years.

PRODUCTS & HARDWARE

Mobile surveillance trailers, solar-powered camera kits, wall and pole mount systems, LPR systems, mobile lighting trailers, rapid-deploy solar lights, security booths, medical and cooling booths, and accessories — all with built-in AI analytics and optional 24/7 SOC monitoring.

No. VDS mobile units are solar-autonomous with multi-day battery reserve and built-in multi-carrier cellular connectivity. They're designed for remote, off-grid locations with no existing infrastructure.

Yes. AI VisionStream is camera-agnostic and supports any ONVIF or RTSP camera. You can bring your existing Axis, Hanwha, Bosch, or other compatible cameras into the platform alongside VDS hardware. We do not support cameras on the NDAA Section 889 prohibited list.

It depends on the configuration. Our flagship Mobile Surveillance Unit includes multi-sensor 4K cameras, LWIR thermal imaging, and ground radar. Other configurations include HD PTZ cameras with 30x optical zoom and dual-spectrum night vision. We configure each unit to match the deployment requirements.

Yes. Every mobile unit runs on solar with multi-day battery reserve. The cameras, AI analytics, and SOC connection stay live through power outages — which is when most incidents happen.

An MSU is a self-contained, trailer-mounted surveillance system — typically solar-powered and deployable to any site without infrastructure. VDS Mobile Surveillance Units combine cameras, AI analytics, cellular connectivity, active deterrence, and optional SOC monitoring in one towable package.

DEPLOYMENT

A single Mobile Surveillance Unit can be set up by one person in under 20 minutes — no tools required. We handle delivery, placement, and commissioning. The unit goes live in AI VisionStream the same day.

Yes — that's the entire point of the mobile model. Trailers are designed for redeployment. We handle the move logistics in-house. Demobilize from one site and redeploy to the next without any abandoned infrastructure.

Before the first equipment delivery. Theft rings monitor permit activity and target sites during the gap between equipment arrival and active construction. There's no reason to leave a site unmonitored overnight — VDS units deploy quickly from trailer drop.

In most jurisdictions, no. Solar-powered mobile surveillance trailers don't require electrical permits or utility connections. Some municipalities require notification for extended deployments on public right-of-way, but for on-site positioning on private property, no permit is typically required.

It depends on terrain, sight lines, and asset density. A typical 10-acre active construction site might use 2 MSU units covering opposing diagonals plus 3–4 solar kits on the gate, fuel area, and equipment line. We size it during the site assessment.

PLATFORM & TECHNOLOGY

AI VisionStream is the VDS cloud platform that connects hardware, cloud-based AI analytics, the SOC, and your mobile devices into a single management console. It ingests video from VDS hardware and any compatible third-party camera, runs AI detection models in the cloud, and routes verified alerts to your team or our SOC.

VDS cameras stream to the VisionStream cloud where AI models classify detections in real time. The vast majority of false positives — shadows, animals, vegetation, weather — are filtered before they ever reach an operator. Only verified events are escalated.

Yes. The VDS mobile app is available on iOS and Android with live multi-camera view, push alerts, two-way audio, clip sharing, and arm/disarm controls.

Yes. Integrations are available for Genetec, Milestone, Lenel, Brivo, Immix, Bold, Stages, ServiceNow, and standard webhooks. A REST API and iOS/Android SDKs are also available for custom integrations.

Yes. Rules are configurable per-camera with full day-of-week and time-of-day granularity. You can run different detection profiles during business hours versus after-hours, weekdays versus weekends.

95%+ plate read accuracy under standard conditions across day, night, rain, and snow — with rapid alerts on hotlist matches. Hotlists can be shared across multiple sites under your account.

MONITORING & SOC

Yes. 24/7 SOC monitoring is included in every VDS subscription — no separate monitoring contract needed.

When AI detects an event, the SOC operator verifies the threat via live video. For confirmed intrusions, the operator triggers audio talk-down through the trailer's PA system and dispatches law enforcement with a live video stream. A full incident report is filed for every event.

Yes. The platform includes a full monitoring console for your security team. Many customers run a hybrid model — their team handles business hours, VDS SOC covers nights and weekends.

Yes, in all states where we operate, when proper signage is posted on private property. We supply state-compliant signage with every deployment.

You receive a full incident report with timestamps, video clips, operator actions, and law enforcement dispatch records. Video is retained in encrypted cloud storage per your retention policy and can be exported in court-ready format with chain-of-custody documentation.

PRICING & CONTRACTS

Pricing depends on configuration, site count, and contract term. VDS offers lease, purchase, and rental options. Most customers see significant cost savings versus guard rotations. Talk to our team for a deployment plan and pricing specific to your sites.

Yes — all three. Rentals and leases are monthly with flexible terms. Purchases include the hardware outright with optional managed services. Most customers start with a lease and can convert to purchase at any time.

VDS offers flexible terms including month-to-month and annual agreements. Longer commitments receive better pricing. Multi-year contracts lock in rates against annual increases.

There is no setup fee for standard deployments. Site survey, transport, installation, and commissioning are included in the service plan.

Yes. A single 24/7 guard position typically costs far more per year than a VDS Mobile Surveillance Unit with SOC monitoring — and the system captures evidence that guards do not. Most multi-site customers see dramatic cost reductions when switching from manned guards.

In our experience, yes — particularly with documented 24/7 monitoring and the SOC incident log as evidence. Many carriers offer premium credits when you can demonstrate a monitored surveillance program. We provide the documentation package for your broker.

COMPLIANCE & SECURITY

Yes. All VDS hardware uses zero components from banned manufacturers. We do not use Dahua or Hikvision components. Signed compliance letters and component attestations are available upon request for federal, utility, and state procurement.

All video and telemetry data is stored on US-based AWS infrastructure, encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256). Data is never replicated outside the United States.

Yes. VDS mobile surveillance is used by utilities to meet NERC CIP-014 physical security requirements at substations. We provide incident logs, video retention confirmation, SOC response records, and NDAA compliance attestation to support your compliance documentation.

No. Customer data is never sold. Footage is not shared with third parties — including law enforcement — without your authorization. Each customer's data is isolated; we do not pool customer data into any shared network.

We require valid legal process. We notify the customer unless a court order specifically prohibits notification. We do not provide voluntary access.

Local storage is encrypted, and the unit cannot authenticate to the cloud without valid credentials — which we revoke immediately. GPS tracking is active on every unit. We have not had a stolen trailer result in any data exposure.

Yes. Standard Information Gathering (SIG Lite and SIG Core) and CAIQ v4 responses are maintained and available under NDA for enterprise customers and qualifying prospects.

INDUSTRIES

Construction, utility and substations, retail, auto dealerships, public safety, critical infrastructure, parking, logistics, oil and gas, solar and renewables, scrap and recycling, events, cannabis, education, healthcare, data centers, agriculture, mining, and more. If you have a perimeter and assets to protect, we can size a configuration.

Yes — construction is VDS's largest vertical. Mobile surveillance trailers are purpose-built for the construction lifecycle: deploy during site prep, reposition as the structure rises, and demobilize at project close. The equipment moves with the project.

Yes. Our flagship MSU is configured for substation deployment with thermal LWIR, ground radar, 4K cameras, and LPR. NDAA compliance and immutable audit logs support NERC CIP-014 documentation requirements.

Yes. Festival, concert, parking, and vendor-village deployments from days to months. Per-week pricing is available. Units are designed for rapid mobilization and demobilization.

VDS primarily covers exterior and perimeter security — parking lots, loading docks, fence lines, gates, and material staging areas. Interior wall-mount systems are available for hallways, stairwells, and access points where appropriate.

PARTNERS & DEALERS

Yes. VDS operates a multi-tier dealer and integrator partner program. Dealers sell, install, and support VDS solutions in their territory with protected margins, co-branded materials, and VDS backend support. Apply through our Partners page.

Yes. Most dealers do. We do not require exclusivity. We do require that VDS units are presented accurately and that customers are not steered to competing products mid-deal.

Yes. Strategic partners can white-label both hardware and the VisionStream platform under their own brand. Software-only white label is also available for partners with existing camera hardware. Contact our partnerships team for details.

Yes, in territories without an active dealer or for enterprise accounts. Where a dealer is active in-territory, leads are routed to the dealer of record.

SUPPORT & OPERATIONS

Active customers receive a dedicated account manager and direct support line at onboarding. The customer success team handles escalations. Emergency support is available 24/7 through the SOC.

Yes. Video, analytics, and audit log export is built into the customer portal. Account metadata export is available through a support request.
